Viève is a London-based singer devoted to the timeless jazz standards of the Great American Songbook. Her musical journey began with classical training, studying piano and singing classical repertoire, but it was jazz that truly captured her heart.
Raised in Scotland in a deeply musical family, Viève grew up surrounded by music. She and her four siblings all played instruments, and from an early age she was immersed in both classical and jazz traditions. A particularly strong influence was her father, a jazz pianist, who introduced her to the great voices of jazz including Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone—artists whose artistry left a lasting impression on her musical sensibility.
Although encouraged by her music professor to pursue formal musical studies after school, Viève chose instead to follow another creative path, studying Art History and Design. She went on to work for many years with museums and cultural institutions in the UK and internationally. Throughout that time, however, music remained a constant presence in her life.
Alongside her professional career, Viève continued to develop her voice through dedicated study with a number of vocal coaches and by performing in recitals and concerts with piano accompaniment. She also undertook jazz studies at the Guildhall School of Music in London and further courses in Stockholm, Sweden.
Life has not always been straightforward. Viève has faced significant health challenges and other personal setbacks. Yet with determination, resilience and a deep love for the music that has inspired her since childhood, she has fulfilled a lifelong ambition: recording her first album of jazz standards. She is now looking ahead to recording her second.
